I first met Lt. Colonel Steve Stephens when I was a young Lieutenant in Saumur, France. He quickly earned my respect and gratitude by serving as a buffer between me and our base commander, who could be trying to deal with at times. When I returned from France, I visited him on purely a social basis in his new assignment in the Personnel Office at the Pentagon. He was instrumental then in reviewing my records and having me assigned to a great college for graduate work. When we were assigned to the DC area, we had the pleasure of visiting with Steve and Ione in their Fairfax home on Cedar Lane. We enjoyed hearing how their family was doing and listening to them speak of their children with so much pride. We regret that we lost contact with them and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Go in peace, Steve. You are fondly remembered. Tom and Karen Baxter
Sorry for your loss. Have many great memories out at the farm.
