Dear Jan, AJ, Momma Garcia, Enya and Liza. It is with a heavy and broken heart that I write this memory of my friend and fellow warrior Ruben. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Ruben and I met in ROTC at RIT in 1983. We had many fond memories in ROTC including being Rangers together, airborne school, and even rebuilding his car in my garage after his first accident. We both served in the Army and Army Reserve and while we never were stationed together in the same place we did end up under the same command (USACAPOC) at one point. We wrote cards, made phone calls, and visited each other when passing through town. The last time was in DC when my wife Nancy and I had lunch with him. I have had the privilege of sharing life from a distance with Ruben. Thanks to Facebook, in addition to our annual exchange of Christmas Cards it became another way to keep in touch. I was so looking forward to being able to get together in Raleigh as we live near there in Sanford, but God had other plans. I will miss you my friend. You have left a wonderful mark on my life and a void, until we meet again, rest in peace Ruben. Jan, AJ, Momma Garcia, Enya, Liza, if you ever need anything please don’t hesitate to let me know.
